Kathmandu: Singers and musicians assembled to pay tribute to the late Yogesh Baidya, a renowned singer and litterateur. The tribute gathering, organized by the Nepal Musicians' Association at the Academy of Music and Drama in Naxal, featured artists such as Sambhujit Baskota, Chetan Sapkota, Basanta Sapkota, and Mahesh Khadka, among others.
The musicians sang Baidya's songs, including the poignant "Sapana Bhulai Sara," as a dirge to honor his memory. The event aimed to express the deep loss felt by the Nepali music community following the passing of Yogesh Baidya, who breathed his last during treatment at Kathmandu Valley Hospital at the age of 77.
Chetan Sapkota expressed his sorrow, stating, "It is an irreparable loss to Nepal's music sector. Some days back, we lost Norbu Chhiring, now Yagesh dai." Sambhujit Baskota remembered Baidya as a musician with a rich and melodious voice.
Yogesh Baidya, who sang over 500 songs, was known for his significant contributions to the Nepali music scene. His last rites were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat, and he is survived by his spouse, two daughters, and a son.
